Albert Einstein (* March 14, 1879 in Ulm, † April 18, 1955 in Princeton, USA) was an American physicist of Swiss German-Jewish descent, whose contributions to theoretical physics significantly altered the physical world.

Einstein's major work is the theory of relativity, the understanding of space and time revolutionized. In 1905 appeared his work, entitled On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies, whose content today as a special theory of relativity is designated. 1916 Einstein published the general theory of relativity.
