This series is placed in the 16th century in Turkey and it's about the greatest Turkish king (sultan) of all times, Suleiman The Great. He made Turkey a magnificent empire, but his love for Hurrem, the Russian (Meryem Uzerli in the pic) destroyed him and his empire, since he was persuaded by her to kill his first born son and successor Mustafa, so the throne was left to Hurrem's second son, Selim the Second. He was completely unfit to rule that great country and, since then and until the first World War and Kemal Ataturk, Turkey had been decreasing in strength and size. I'm Greek, but I cannot but admire that Great ruler and king, Suleiman! Thanks for the great photo!
