I went into the US Army at 17 yo, right out of high school. I participated in the GI Bill, as it seemed a smart decision (and we weren't given a choice in Basic Training). I got sent overseas, and was a combat vet. I received an honorable discharge. Later, as an adult, I went back to school to become a nurse after my son came down with Type 1 Diabetes. When I went to get some of my GI Bill to help pay for expenses, I was told it had expired. When asked if I could get the $1200 that I put into the program, the answer was NO. Now Biden 'passes' this loan forgiveness plan, and then almost immediately rolls it back. 2 days after he made the rule that it would only apply if your loan was serviced by the Dept of Education, my school loan (which I had to take out b/c I was unable to use my GI Bill) was sold from the Dept of Ed to a private loan servicer, making it no longer eligible for loan forgiveness. The gov't is not in the business of taking care of it's constituents. These politicians are in the business of getting re-elected, and taking advantage of their position to line their pockets. "
