In Spain celebrations for Catholic Holy Week are often spectacular. Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday are all national public holidays with additional days being given as local holidays. There are long processions through the streets with "pasos"(religious floats and sculptures). Religious statues are carried along on the shoulders of the "cofrades"(members of a brotherhood)

Very informative, I didn't know this costume was worn for a religious holiday, I wonder if that's wear the KKK got the idea for their uniforms. Apparently someone who didn't bother to click your link or read your excerpt has flagged this image as offensive. I think its educational.
